Whether it’s running, jumping or throwing, every young athlete needs guidance to help them reach their full potential?
The coaching group at Sandringham Little Athletics are here at every meet, assisting and helping every young athlete, encouraging them to learn, understand and achieve their personal best every week.
SLAC’s coaching coordinator, Barry Bernasconi leads our young, dynamic and enthusiastic coaching group assisted by Mladen Canadi, Clodagh Grogan, Tash Franchina and Todd Hartley… a talented team covering all disciplines in athletics, but more importantly helping all young members enjoy their Saturday mornings at the Sandringham Track.
On Track – a dedicated season-long program for our Under 6 athletes that focuses on developing motor skills through games and obstacle courses. On track prepares our Under 6 athletes for future years of athletics, while having fun with their friends.
Under 7-9 Development – a program during the first 4 weeks of the season that focuses on honing the skills and techniques for running, jumping and throwing. from week 5 onwards, coaches continue the development as the athletes transition to competition.
Under 10-16 Competition – older ages continue their development through competition and on-going instruction by coaches.
Weeknight Training – discipline-specific training for Under 8 – Under 16, with all events and disciplines supported during the season. The locations of training are:
- Oct 4 – Nov 22 : Mondays 5-6pm at Bricker Reserve, Moorabbin
- Dec 1 – Dec 15, Jan 19 – Mar 16: Wednesdays 5-7pm at Sandringham
