What a successful 2019 Relay Season we had. Relays are now over for the 2019/20 season. The next competition options for athletics are individual and include:
State Combined Event: 1-2 Feb 2020
SMR Track and Field Carnival 15-16 Feb
This takes place over the weekend of 1-2 February at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.
Each athlete will participate in a standard set of between 5 and 7 events which is determined by their age group. These events are identical for each athlete in their age group. Across the Championships, athletes collect points for their performance in each event with the final accumulation of points then determining the final standings.

The Regional Track and Field Carnival starts with the SMR meet over the weekend of 15-16 February at Caulfield Little Athletics Track – Duncan McKinnon. The Track and Field carnivals are open to athletes in the Under 9 to Under 16 age groups and also includes specific events for Multi-Class athletes on Sunday 16th February.
Who can compete?
To be eligible to enter the Region Track & Field Carnivals, athletes must be registered and be a financial Little Athletics Victoria Competitive Member.
They also must have competed in a minimum of 4 weeks of Little Athletics Victoria approved weekly Centre competition from the beginning of the 2019-20 season to the close of entries – Tuesday 28th January 2020 (11:59pm).
Entries will be provisional until this participation criteria has been met.
Events available and their scheduled day for each age group can be found below. This includes the qualification process and the maxium number of athletes eligible.
Example: In the U9 Girls 100m, the first place from each of the 7 Regions then the next best 17 performances from all Regions will make up a field of 24 to qualify for the State Track & Field Championships. Note: 800m events will only be a field of 16.
Athletes participating in the Multi-Class events will need to finish in a top 8 placing at the Region Track & Field Carnival, after the application of the MDS tables. The maximum field size of 24 athletes for Multi-Class will be in the age groups; U9 – U12 Boys, U9 – U12 Girls, U13 – U16 Boys, and U13 – U16 Girls.

Sandringham Little Athletics holds an annual Centre Track and Field Championships run in a similar fashion to Region and State Championships. Athletes can compete in up to 6 events against other athletes from the centre. For those who haven’t experienced Regional or school competition this is our athletes first competition experience.
The Championship is held on one Saturdays between the Regional and State Track and Field Championships.
