WHEN ARE THE RELAYS?
1. Mentone Relay Day – Sunday, November 10th, 2019 Moorabbin Little Athletics Centre (optional). A reminder that while you have paid to enter the event, there is usually a small entry fee to the ground to cover operations associated with running the event. We will have our Sandringham Little Athletic Tents up so you will be able to find us. Your Team Manager will advise on times you need to be at the track. Remember to pack an eski of food and it is often a great idea to bring along camp chairs (and blankets if it is cold).
2. Regional Relay Day – Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 Springvale Little Athletics at Ross Reserve, Memorial Drive, Noble Park (compulsory). This is an all-day event at which parents are required to fulfil an approximate 3-hour duty (compulsory)
3. State Relay Day – Saturday, December 14th, 2019 Casey Fields, Cranbourne (compulsory). If teams qualify or progress – an all-day event at which parents are required to fulfil an approximate 3 hour duty (compulsory)
WHEN IS RELAY TRAINING?
Training will be held at the Sandringham Athletics Track Wednesday’s from 6.00pm to 6.45pm for U9,U10, U11 and 6.45pm -7.30pm for Under 12 to Under 16. The first training session will commence Wednesday 23rd October.
You need to be available for training if you agree to compete in a relay team. If you cannot make it to training please speak with the age group coach and we will work something else out.
Athletes should aim to attend at least 80% of the sessions to support their team mates. If they are unable to attend, please notify your child’s Age Group Relay Coach or Shane, our Events Coordinator.
Constructing our relay teams is a complicated and time-consuming task. If an athlete decides to withdraw, after team estimates have been submitted, this could result in the withdrawal of the whole team and disappointment for other athletes. There are no refunds for individual or teams that are withdrawn. Final teams will be confirmed by the SLAC Events Coordinator & Assistant Events Coordinator, Coaching Director and President.
Please see our full selection relay policy & athlete and parent code of conduct in the regulations document on the SLAC website. Parent volunteer support is needed for these meets.

Athletes can enter Regional Track and Field Championships in upto four favoured events. The Regional Track and Field Championships are the qualifier for the State Track and Field Championships.
Both events are held late in the season with State Track and Field Championships being the traditional season closer held at Albert Park.
Sandringham Little Athletics holds an annual Centre Track and Field Championships run in a similar fashion to Region and State Championships. Athletes can compete in up to 6 events against other athletes from the centre. For those who haven’t experienced Regional or school competition this is our athletes first competition experience.
The Championship is held on one Saturdays between the Regional and State Track and Field Championships.
