Refunds due to COVID Restrictions
In case we are unable to provide a full season of competition due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g. on-going COVID restrictions), Sandringham Little Athletics Club will offer a pro-rata refund of the SLAC component of the membership fee, less a small administration fee, based on the percentage of meets that we could not run during our 16 meet season. This refund would be paid if requested by the athlete’s family and at the end of the season when we know the full impact of restrictions during the season.
Please note that the SLAC component of the membership fee varies depending on early bird or regular pricing and number of registered members in a family. Also note that the LAVIC component of the overall membership fee ($89 per athlete) is not refundable.
As an example, if a family paid $200 to register their athlete with early bird pricing, but the first 6 weeks of competition we cancelled due to lockdown restrictions, the prorate refund would be as follows. SLAC portion of membership dues $200- $89 = $111, and after $7 club processing fee, $104. Missing 6 weeks of 16 week competition, results in 106*(6/16) = $39.
Trialing Little Athletics
For those families who have not been involved in Little Athletics before, we offer the opportunity for your children to trial Little Athletics for free. Trialers are welcome to join-in all the activities that are available to members on any 2 Fridays or Saturdays during the season. Once the trial is complete, you have the opportunity to register as a member of the centre for the season.
If you wish to trial, you can select that option during the registration process on the Little Athletics Victoria portal. To access the portal, please click on the button at the top or the bottom of this page.
Age Group Calculator
All Little Athletes compete with other children of their same age. The age group for your child is determined by the year of their child’s birth. The age group will be the next number above the age which your child turns in 2021. For example, a child that turns 10 in 2021 will be in the Under 11 group. For more information, please click on the link below.
Children that are between the ages of 5 and 15 years old on December 31, 2021 are invited to register. For children who turn 5 just after the New Year, please contact Sandringham Little Aths for more information at [email protected].
For more information, please visit LA Victoria Age Group Calculator.
What happens when you Register
Registration is complete when you have filled in the details online at the LAVIC website and if a new member shown proof of age.
A competition patch is produced for all registered members and will be issued to our on our competition morning.
A reminder that Registration patches will NOT be issued until a committee member has sighted evidence of the athlete’s date of birth. Acceptable documentation includes a passport, birth certificate or child health record. The documents may be scanned/photographed and emailed to [email protected].
Cancellation of Membership
The LAVic component of the registration is non-refundable. The Sandy Little Aths component will only be refunded under extraordinary circumstances after approval by the Executive Committee. Requests must be made in writing to the Club President.
Cancellation and Program Changes
Cancellation of weekly competition programs can occur throughout the season due to wet weather or excessive heat conditions. On a Saturday morning or prior to any twilight programs scheduled, if you think that the program may be cancelled, please check Sandy Little Aths Website (home page for the weather check button) 1-2 hours before the session is about to commence..
The decision to cancel a program is made by the Sandy Little Aths Committee with the safety of athletes and officials as their primary concern. On some occasions, a program may also be altered to suit weather conditions. The LAVic weather policy will be used in decision making.
