Volunteers are essential in the running of our Saturday morning program.  Because Sandringham Little Aths is a voluntary organization, we cannot operate without the volunteer assistance of parents each week.

Saturday volunteering

Families of Sandringham Little Aths athletes are requested to complete 3 volunteer duties for each athlete on Saturday mornings during the summer track season. Volunteering involves wearing a high-vis vest and following their athlete’s Age Group from event to event, assisting the coaches and Age Group Manager (see below) as needed. This typically involves helping measure at field events and helping the coaches organize races for track events. For families with multiple athletes, volunteers are required for each athlete.

The sign-up sheet for volunteering during the 2025/26 track season will be available before the beginning of the season.

Regional and State event volunteering

Just like regular Saturday morning meets at Sandringham Little Aths, Regional and State-level competitions that are run by Little Athletics Victoria only run with strong support from volunteers. The families of Sandringham Little Athletics athletes are required to fulfill 1 volunteer duty for each athlete that is competing.

The sign-up sheets for Regional and State events during the 2025/26 track season are typically open the week before the scheduled meet.

Age Group Managers

Sandringham Little Athletics is fortunate to have a number of parents willing to give of their time as Age Group Managers for the season.  The AGMs are the most important people in Sandringham Little Aths, as they are critical to the successful running of our program each weekend.  AGMs are primarily responsible for leading a specific age group around the track for each of their events and engaging with parents to help as needed.

AGMs typically have a child in the age group, so it is a great way of getting involved with their children’s sport. All AGMs must have a valid Working With Children Check for the duration of the season. If you are interested in being an AGM, please contact Sandringham Little Aths at Sandringham@lavic.com.au.
